Sarah Gibson and her husband, Frank, are one of the common threads that tie the series OF WIND AND SKY together. Their characters were partly inspired by my parents, who were voices of faith and encouragement to me during the valleys I was led to walk in the last decade.
Sarah and Frank also represent who I want to be: a person who lives out her faith, shows compassion for those in need, and clings to God in times of suffering. Sarah's voice echoes the one in my head that tells me what I need to hear, whether I really want to hear it or not.
In THROUGH EVERY VALLEY, Sarah and Frank provide the widowed Vivian Hudson with a place to stay until she can find a wagon train to take her back east. Of course, when Frank arranges the sale of her cattle to the young man from Annapolis, Rob Hudson, Vivian finds a new reason to stay in Wyoming. Throughout her journey of learning to trust God again and to risk her heart to another man, Sarah is the voice of reason and hope.
In THE WHISPER OF DAWN, Sarah befriends Annette Hamilton, a young woman who is held captive to shame and fears the sins of her past will always haunt her. Not only are Sarah and Frank able to offer a cure for the Civil War Veteran, Jesse Stone, when his amputated leg becomes dangerously infected, they're able to lead Annette and Jesse to a greater and more lasting healing.
And finally, in AS EAGLES SOAR, the couple offers their home as a safe haven for Catherine Gibson in her time of need,
