While the sun is shining, I have to hang up my writer's hat and put on my painter's cap. As many of you know, last fall my husband and I purchased a Victorian house built in 1895. Needless to say, it comes with a few projects. For now, my priority is going to be painting the trim on the exterior windows. If you have an old house, you know how important it is to maintain the paint to preserve the integrity of the wood. Some of it needs replacing as it is.
And, since I have to do it anyway, it's a great opportunity to give the house a makeover! I always dreamed of having a blue Victorian--and now I have the opportunity to have it! I just have to pull out the paintbrush and a little elbow grease and make it happen. (I will be hiring someone for the third floor windows, just in case anyone was wondering about that.)
It's going to take me all summer and then some to get it finished, but I am excited to see the end result, and oddly enough, I find painting to be kind of therapeutic. Which is a good thing since there are plenty of things around this big old house that need painting!
In the interim, I plan to publish a children's book my daughter and I made together about ten years ago. It probably won't be released until the fall. But the next novel is already developing in my head and as soon as I can invest time in the necessary research, I'm sure it will spring to life on the page. More information on that coming soon!
