Frequently Asked Questions
When did you know you wanted to become a writer? In the eighth grade, the teacher assigned a short story of no less than three pages. I turned in twenty-one hand-written pages. When I was fifteen, I wrote my first full-length historical fiction novel (in the 90’s we had to use paper, pencils, and encyclopedias!). It was 500 hand-written pages, set during the Middle Ages. It was probably horrible, but it was a beginning. By the time I graduated high school, it had turned into a trilogy. How old are you? I was born in 1976. I think I look younger than my age because I’m only five feet tall. Do you have a degree in writing? No, but my interests have always been history, literature, and psychology, which all come together when writing historical fiction/romance. |
When did you publish your first novel?
In 2013 I self-published Through Every Valley. The idea for it was born while camping at Yellowstone National Park. Sharing my writing with the world was a very intimidating prospect and marked a great achievement in overcoming my fears and insecurities.
Are you a full-time writer?
Writing is something you should do for the love of it, and not for the money--because few are lucky enough to earn a living at it! Writing has been a compulsion for me all of my life, so I find ways to work it into my schedule.
