Waiting for the Sun

For me, life without writing is like watching a black & white TV. All the basic elements are present, but they lack vitality. Creating stories with my words and weaving them into a historical backdrop brings me joy and purpose. In between projects, I feel restless and unsettled. I feel like the sun has gone behind the clouds and I’m sitting on the beach, waiting for it to come back out.

While I wait to get AS EAGLES SOAR back from my editing team to prepare for publication, I have begun research for my next novel or novel series. At this time all I know is that it will be set in historic Centreville MD (where I am currently a resident), in or around the time of the Civil War. My research will determine what direction the novel takes. I have a few ideas, but I'll be enlisting the aid of the Queen Anne’s Historical Society as well as my local library to flesh out the details. I have to tell you, I always feel a thrill something like infatuation as I begin a new novel!

I'll be sure to keep you posted as this new project evolves, and I would appreciate your prayers for God’s leading in this endeavor even as we anticipate the release of the final book in the series, OF WIND AND SKY.

As always, I'm so grateful for your kind notes, messages, and comments, and I pray that in some small way God can use me to be a blessing to each and every one of you.

Book 3: As Eagles Soar

For those of you who've been asking me when Book 3 will be released, I have good news! Based on the progress I was making on it through the summer I thought it wouldn't be ready until spring, but it appears that I could have it available by December 1st!

I asked God to give me time and inspiration and He graciously provided both! I've experienced a change in my work schedule, and Grace is back in school, which opened up free time for writing. And the more I worked on it, the more excited I was to finish the story! One night I couldn't sleep, and so spent the quiet, dark hours at my computer typing while everyone else in the house slept.

I'm happy to report that the first draft is complete and I've spent the last two days reading through it with a red pen. Once I've completed these corrections, it will be turned over to my Editing Team for feedback.

Then the grueling work of editing, revising, and formatting begins. And finalizing the cover design with my graphic designer. So, barring no major setbacks, I think we can plan on having it out in time for Christmas!
